GIS Workshop for K-12 educators

GIS = Geographic Information System

GIS Agenda

 A geographic information system (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information.
GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.

The intended audience for this FREE workshop is K-12 educators who have basic computer experience, an interest in geography and/or spatial thinking, and who would like to get started or expand their ability to use GIS software in the classroom. By the end of the workshop participants will understand: Basic GIS functionality, File management and workspaces, How to use GIS  spatial thinking in the classroom and How to use ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS.com
